What does the term 'Las Vegas' mean in Spanish?

It means 'The meadows' which was one of the possible answers.
But the answer: 'The fertile plains' was marked as correct.

While that answer could also be considered a possible answer, meadows certainly can't be wrong...

got a bug in my paralysation crystal

it doesnt work

had it on for over a week now, had tons of duels even been in a war and with all the attacks it hasnt stunned once.

whats the point of selling something especially one that is needed for a quest with no other way of completing it if the thing doesnt work.

i have prob had over 70 duels now without even registering 1 stun on my quest

thats nuts,

Possible causes:
You're very unlucky...
Your opponent had a paralysation prevention item.
You didn't insert the crystal in your active weapon.
You didn't make the quest your active one.
You dropped the quest halfway so the counter got reset.
You barely land any hits in the combat rounds. You can't stun if you don't hit.

What could help you complete the quest:
There are rings and necklaces with paralysation
There's normal equipment too, but only from a high level.
Attack players with low defense and upgrade your own attack. You'll land more hits and therefore have better chances one of them stuns.
Make sure your targets don't have any paralysation protection items.
Go on a Buddhist training camp to increase your luck

A full cycle of the moon takes how many days?
26
28*
30
32

This answer is wrong.
It takes about 29.53 days.
The actual time for the moon to orbit the earth is about 27.32 days, the difference is caused by the earth orbiting the sun at the same time. But even if that number was taken for the right one, even if that was not the question, it would be rounded to 27 days, not 28.

I don't think there's anyone who wouldn't agree with the clan-message function. It's just too convenient not to have.

Ideally each player could manage his own contact list.
You can add people to it by clicking a button on their character page.
When sending a message you can select the checkboxes before the names of the people you want to send it too.
There'd also be a checkbox to send to all your clanmembers or even custom groups.

Besides that, I'd much appreciate it if the spam-filter was a little bit more lenient...
Even when just sending messages back and forth talking about something it goes of sometimes

What ability points do these monsters have?
Judging by my own battles, they at least seem to be stronger than the dimension gate ones, while the level is supposed to be lower. I even lost not just 1, but 2 battles
I can imagine people who don't use ancient stones to buy equipment and have just average abilities, to find it quite a challenge to beat these. So, I'm afraid that this event will cause the gap between the weak and the strong to grow wider, as the lesser players need to put in significantly more effort (SE and AP) for the same results.
And yes, I'm not sure what formula was used to balance things between the hordes, but it is obvious that the hordes with the most top players have a clear advantage. It's likely that the low levels (lvl 3-15ish, world 2 standards) are far too heavily weighed. Most of them will never even notice an event is happening at all, let alone participate. Well, it's a relief to hear the personal reward is much more attractive than the horde one
And finally, good luck to all who decide to fight! I'll make sure to retrieve your remains from the monster's stomach. Well, or I'll have Maintzunun do it since he seems to be a bit more reliable

@D00mlord ! Kethios is your girlfriend? I'd never have guessed!

To be more precise:

SP=level*magic*0.9+72
HP=level*constitution+180

The time your HP and SP take to regenerate from 0 to max is independent from magic and constitution. So if you have double as many max HP, you'll recover double as many HP/hour as well. The same goes for SP.

As for the other abilities, they're a mystery to me...
I'm really not sure about the percentages at which they increase your damage or chances to hit/block.
If you want to have an indication, it would be best to test things out by attacking one another repeatedly with some different characters, who all invested in different abilities. Just have everyone in your clan create a character on one of the other servers and you can legally test it out without it getting in the way of your normal play

Talk to a guy in your level and ask him to help you in this quest. If he will have like 10k SE in hand and you curse him before you attack, you can do it.

Special duel rules for world 3:
The SE you can get for a victorious duel is maximalized this way: 10 + 10 * level * maximum(target's victory/loss ratio, 0.2). Example: A defeats B. B is level 12, he have 70 victories and 40 losses. The winner's loot: 10 + 10 * 12 * 70/40 = 220 SE. This value is increased by the diamond horde's bonus and the bonus from the creative affinity skill.

If I remember correctly, it was before level 20 that I encountered the quest to loot 1k SE.
Assuming a level 20 target is willing to help out and you're not of the diamond horde, apply the formula:
10+10*20*(ratio)=1000
shuffling the formula around, you get: ratio = (1000-10)/200=4.95
So in order to complete this quest in world 3, you need to beat someone with a win/loss ratio of at least 5 while he's carrying a decent amount of SE, Kethios suggested 10k.
*With max creative affinity, the required ratio and SE can roughly be halved.
*If your target is of a lower level than 20, he needs a higher ratio, if he's of a higher level than 20, a lower ratio will suffice.
*Do keep in mind that gains are lowered if you attack people below your own level, so preferably find someone of your own level and exchange the quest, or the target might need to carry more than 10k SE.
*Don't forget you can't loot more than you have yourself (multiplied with your creative affinity bonus)

I'm just happy there's an event again I just love surprise events
Whether the rewards will be worth it, we'll have to find out...

You need to spend less SE/fight at lower levels, (level*50) if I'm not mistaken. And the SE you put into it gets multiplied with a constant, this constant becomes lower at higher levels. So that should balance things out a bit. Probably not quite 100% though as I think a level 30 has more than double the SE of a level 15, well, on average at least.

Which music artist claims the most sales (all time)?
Elvis Presley
The Beatles
I don't recall the other 2 answers...

The Beatles were marked as the right answer, but is this really true? Although some sources confirmed this, most put Elvis above them...
If the right answer is indeed so unclear, at least remove one of those two answers or change artist into band/group.

And doesn't such a question require a date? Nobody who can tell you for sure who will be on top in a few years...

You can't just abandon it, though. Otherwise, I could ask what I ate for breakfast on a given date, and it would have to be accepted. There has to be some kind of line. Personally, I'd like to see something that takes several factors into account.

well indeed. I didn't quite think about something like your breakfast...
I like your idea of a rating system where different factors are taken into account, it would probably result in a bunch of complaints of people whose questions got rejected, but that's bound to happen anyway. And like you said, everybody will have their own view about the qualities that are important for a good questions, but such is the case with any set of rules, so it shouldn't be a problem.

An additional idea:
When submitting a question, one has to choose which category it belongs to.
Everybody gets the option to select a few categories which they don't want any questions about. What is interesting to one person can be very boring to others after all.
Also, to increase the diversity of questions, one can get more SE for asking a question in a category that has fewer questions already recorded.
There could also be a category about doomlord, where one would have to set a minimum level for the question to be asked.

@ LydonB, the challenge can be fun on it's own...or maybe we're just of the M type ^@^
I must confess I'm about 50/50 with good and bad questions so it's kind of nice to get one approved

@ ChaoticGemini, In that case I'm sorry, I looked around quite a bit but couldn't find anything contradicting Nigeria being the leader of the pack. I guess I can't match a quizmaster's googlability
Dátum: 2010.08.15. 03:25:32
Personally I'd rather welcome so called 'specialised knowledge' questions, finding the answer to those may often lead you towards some interesting information I don't quite understand what's wrong with specialised knowledge, most answers are googled anyway. And since no adequate definition for specialised knowledge can be given, although I appreciate the efforts made, it would be best to just abandon it.
Just imagine everybody asking questions in their own area of expertise. The questions would be much more interesting since the asker is much more knowledgeable about the topic. And who cares if you get one or two wrong answers, the loss of 10% SE isn't going to kill you surely and everybody else faces the same questions as you do. I for one would enjoy hunting more if I learned something n
Things like names of inventors, actors, authors, directors, athletes and other 'famous' people or even their wives or kids are in my opinion 100% boring. If you're going to ask something, ask about the inventions themselves, their most famous works, their achievements, what inspired them, what impact they had on the world or ask to place something in the correct time period. Ask something with actual meaning, don't ask what name his/her dad happened to fancy.
I don't know how others enjoy the quiz questions, but what I enjoy most is to come across interesting information I otherwise would never have seen. Allowing specialised questions would certainly increase the frequency of these pleasant occasions.

Ok thanks
I wouldn't call it magic, but the racial differences and eating habits are thought to be the main causes. I don't see them changing any time soon. Although it is possible that the higher average age of pregnant mothers-to-be in other countries will cause a twin-boom there and then there's fertility drugs and the like...who knows, the USA could make a come-back someday

I didn't put in a date because it makes it seem so specific and Nigeria has been leading for a while.
If I got a question now, which country had the highest twinning rate in 1950 it would be weird...

I'll just write another twin question
Thanks again for your quick replies
Dátum: 2010.08.14. 07:03:23
I must say the given answers in LittleJon's question are well chosen though, it makes the question a lot easier to answer. They're all well known constants as well and almost impossible to confuse with e.

As for my own question that was considered ambigious:

Which country has the highest percentage of twin births?

Paraguay
Nigeria
Yemen
Cambodia

Why is this ambiguous? Do I need to state a year because it might change some day? Or can the question be misinterpreted in some way? Would it be better to change 'percentage' to 'rate' or 'ratio'?
Dátum: 2010.08.13. 03:18:30
@ChaoticGemini
That is odd however you look at it, the skill especially specifies that you can't loot less than a certain minimum.
Did you by any chance have 0 SE your when you attacked? You can't loot more than you have, well double with max creative affinity, but 0 times 2 is still 0...

Another option I can think of is that while the battle report says you loot 0, the SE you receive due to the skill is still added to your vault without notifying you about this. Please verify this before getting rid of the skill!

Will there be any other events like this I haven't yet seen?
I participated in the losing party of the last mapping event in world two (despite gathering what I assume to be the most pieces of all )
And at the beginning there were quiz olympics, but neither of them for quite a while now.

Will there be any other similar events? I quite enjoy them and would be delighted if there were others...

Also, a question concerning this mapping event: Once the next event takes place, will we lose the items we got during the previous event, or can you collect as many as you like?

Who is the 91st and the second person to become Prime Minister of Japan in 2010?
Yukio Hatoyama
Ichiro Ozawa
Naoto Kan
Junichiro Koizumi

Yasuo Fukuda is the answer i find

The 91st prime minister of Japan was indeed Yasuo Fukuda, however he was appointed in 2007.
The one who became prime minister in 2010 is Naoto Kan, but he is the 94th Prime minister of Japan.
The information given in the question doesn't match.
Also, there's only one person who became prime minister of Japan in 2010, so I'm not too sure what 'and the second person' refers to. Well, 2010 hasn't ended yet, so we might yet see a second

Ohh, and thanks a lot for this topic stekkos! I only just now discovered it (or rediscovered, very possible with my poor memory), but it's great to be able to see a more detailed reason as to why questions are rejected. Just 'ambiguous' or 'spelling' often has me wondering because normally you wouldn't submit your question if you thought it was wrong somehow...
It is also a good reference for writing new questions

again, i just don't see the spelling mistake. can anyone help? thanks.

Who first proposed that the planets have elliptical orbits?

Aristotle
Galileo
Copernicus
Kepler

No red lines anywhere, meaning the spelling checker didn't think there's anything wrong with it.
Maybe they think the grammar is incorrect somehow? I don't think it's necessarily wrong though...
"Who was the first to propose planets have elliptical orbits?" would be another way to phrase it.
I don't know how they check spelling though, it might just be that it it done automatically and that one or more of the names aren't listed...
