I checked Google (yes I Google the answers when I get stumped! I'm shameless!) and found both Venus and Uranus as answers. Maybe that's the problem?

I do agree that it's fun to learn these bits of trivia.

Hi, I just wanted to know what was wrong with the first quiz question I put up. The rest have been good, so far.

The Philippines was named after which historic figure?

Philip II of Macedon
Saint Philip the Apostle
King Philip II of Spain
General Philip Henry Sheridan

The question is valued as "Bad, incorrect question"!
Spelling mistakes in question or answers.

Thanks!

I suppose you mean the Philippines as in the group of islands...in that case you should use were instead of was.

If I had written 'The Philippine islands,' I would have agreed with you (in which case the question would be wrong since each island's name would have a different origin) but I wrote 'The Philippines,' referring to the country, which was named after King Philip II of Spain by Ferdinand Magellan.
But I appreciate the input
