How could something like this get past the evaluators ?
The correct answer is 1,000,000 but it is in fact : 907 184.74 grams
Is not asking the exact number, the common understanding is 1000kg or 1 million g.
As a matter of fact one metric ton is exactly 1,000,000 gram, trouble is the question doesn't specify what measuring system to use. Here are a few of the various definitions of a ton: (taken from: thefreedictionary.com)
1. A unit of weight equal to 2,000 pounds (0.907 metric ton or 907.18 kilograms). Also called net ton, short ton.
2. A unit of weight equal to 2,240 pounds (1.016 metric tons or 1,016.05 kilograms). Also called long ton.
3. A metric ton. See Table at measurement.
4. A unit of capacity for cargo in maritime shipping, normally estimated at 40 cubic feet.
5. A unit of internal capacity of a ship equal to 100 cubic feet.
6. A unit for measuring the displacement of ships, equal to 35 cubic feet, and supposed to equal the volume taken by a long ton of seawater.

How big is the football field?
50 meters
100 meters
50 yards
100 yards
There are two problems with this question, the main is witch kind of football? American Football, or European Football?
The second is, the correct answer is not present for either kinds:
The American Football field is 100+2x10 yards long so that's 120 yards
In European Football the size is less standardized, the field is between 90 and 120 meters (FIFA rules for international matches are between 100 and 110 meters)
As to the 1st problem, I think all Football questions should state whether we are talking European or American, calling European Football Soccer will remove the ambiguity for those questions, but not for the American Football questions.

Which of the folowin is NOT true for dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO)? (=water)
a) excelent electric conductor
b) inhaling even small quantity can cause instant death
c) at least 9 of 10 murderers use it at least once 24h prior to murder
d) component of acid rain
i chose b and it was incorect, result said a is correct.
well I suggest questions author should put hair dryer to his bathtub while I will be inhaling DHMO from natural air humidity
I would say all 4 of the possible answers are true, but a and b are not absolutes, pure water is not an excellent electric conductor, but as soon as you add even small quantities of salt it is a quite good electrical conductor, and what is "small quantity"? and drowning is by no means instant.

It is correct that the melting point of water drops a little with increasing pressure, but at a point around 200 MPa (~2000 atm) strange things begin to happen and the melting point of water actually starts to raise and around 600 MPa (~6000 atm) you the melting point climbs above 0C again.
But even though the question and answer is technically correct, I have to agree that this is neither common knowledge or even hi-school level knowledge, I learned about this at my 2nd (or was it 3rd) year at the university, studying mechanical and thermal engineering.

Idézet: ChaoticGemini - 2010.02.24. 10:32:53 By adjusting atmostpheric pressure, you can make room temperature water...
neither boil nor freeze
boil or freeze
freeze
boil
First off it should be spelled atmospheric
Secondly, this ambiguous question is no different than those with 'none of the above' type choices
To make water freeze at room temperature (15-25C) you need to apply quite a lot of pressure, 800-1000 MPa, the common school experiment where water freezes under low pressure, is due to the temperature drop caused by the evaporation when the boiling point drops below that of the temperature of the water.

I just had this question:
"What country has the highest number of children being adopted?"
First: The question is inaccurate: are we talking internal or international adoptions, are we talking receiving or giving, and what year?
Second: The answer as given by the quiz is Ethiopia, but as China has a high rate of internal and international adoption and is one of the two most populous countries, it has for several of the recent years held the title as the country having most children up for adoption.
Third: The answer cannot be expected to stay the same.

What is the title of Ozzy Osbourne?
Lawbreaker
The Prince of Darkness
Ozzmosis
Lord of Dumbness
Ozzy Osbourne does not hold a title as such, he has made several (as in titles of songs and albums, one of witch is Ozzmosis) he is also known as the "Godfather of Heavy Metal" and "Prince of Darkness", witch is not the same as any of them being his title. You could say some have given him those two "titles" but they are not the title of Ozzy Osbourne.

Macintosh
AUX
Linux
Windows
There are several errors in this one, the 1st one is the use of the word "famous" in this context. Secondly, the correct answer can be argued, and finally Windows isn't an operating system as such, Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows Vista, Windows 7 etc. are, while X Windows is a GUI for Linux/unix.

MS Windows NT/XP/Vista/7 etc.

Two most famous electric guitar manufacturers are?
Yamaha and Ibanez
Fender and Gibson
Cort and Aria
Peavey and Musicman
All of the mentioned names are names of electric guitar manufacturers and as the question is worded several if not all the answers can be regarded as correct, if however the question was reworded to:
Which two are the most famous guitar manufacturers? then most would agree that "Fender and Gibson" would be the correct answer.
