Never was I am always to be.No one ever saw me,nor ever will.Yet I am the confidence of all,to live and breathe on this terrestrial ball. What am I?

a) Sounds like the rambling rantings of a lunatic ("Never was I am always to be" - what the f__k is that?)
b) "The Future" (the answer) lives and breathes?
c) "No one ever saw me,nor ever will." - so psychic ability cannot exist now, or ever in the future?
d) I didn't realize you could personify a dimension... Hi Depth, I'm Length, have you seen Width around anywhere?

How do you call the 30"th aniversary of mariage?

Ummm, spelling and grammar issues, perhaps?

Is there a practical benefit limit to expert hunt? I know it says:

During your hunt, you can select the larger species more efficiently. As a result, the random factor of your prey's size decreases. The skill also increases the SE you acquire when hunting. If your skill is at least half of your level, you should expect +5% SE average.

But if the skill is equal to my level, does that mean I get 10% more on average? Does the "you can select the larger species more efficiently" keep increasing? Theoretically, if I reach level 1000, will every hunt result in a Gigantic?

Or does it functionally cap at some point?

However, it did only take me about 20 seconds to find the answer.
And what's your point? (apart from you apparently not liking me)

The point is that you seem to have nothing better to do than complain about things over minuscule or insignificant issues

P.s. I did not complain about a title, but that the question asked what song a piece of lyrics was from. And as long as googleability is not part of the official guidelines, you finding it in 20 seconds is irrelevant.

Actually, if you would read the forum as much as you post on it, you would see that Googlability is now a legitimate factor in determining the viability of a question.

"Even old New York was once New Amsterdam" is a lyric from what They Might be Giants song?
Ho Chi Minh City (Not Saigon)
Mumbai (Not Bombay)
St. Petersburg (Not Leningrad)
Istanbul (Not Constantinople) <- marked as correct

Isn't this a bit on the specialist side? Luckily I managed to google it in time. I have never heard the song, and the only place I have ever heard of it was in this quiz, same goes for the Band/Group.

If you're going to bitch about music questions, let's hear your take on this one:

What year did MTV Unplugged( a 10,000 Maniacs CD) come out?
Artist 10,000 Maniacs
Type Album
Released October 26, 1993
Rating 3.60 from 416 ratings
Ranked #311 for 1993

However, it did only take me about 20 seconds to find the answer.

Time for a little physics, I just got this question:

how many times does sun revolve around earth in a year ?
twelve
six
zero <- marked as correct
one

The correct answer however is, one. The Sun and the Earth revolves around a common centre of gravity, (somewhere close to the centre of the sun), once each year, this is what defines a year. So the Earth revolves around the Sun once a year, while the Sun revolves around the Earth once a year.

The common way when reffering to the Earth-Sun system (which does operate how you mentioned) is that the Earth orbits the sun. So the sun is considered to be the stationary part in this system. Also the center of gravity for both is so close to the center of the sun that the sun is almost orbiting around its axis anyway, not around Earth. Strictly speaking you are correct but the question can still be accepted. Is the same as asking how the sun moves on the sky, we say East to West, although is the Earth rotating West to East that creates the daily cycle.
Since one is the correct scientific answer, as you yourself say, as long as both zero and one are options, the question is ambiguous. But I'll just take note of the question, and hope no one corrects it.

Are you seriously trying to make the argument that a rotation point near the center of the sun means that the earth not only orbits the sun, but the sun orbits the earth? Are you REALLY that anal-retentive? How about going to moderate Trivial Pursuit, and stop wasting your evidently considerable talents complaining about points of insignificance on a GAME SITE!

Except for diseases, what is the most common reason of human deaths?

Given cause is road accident... But the question is highly ambiguous. When are we talking about? Where are we talking about? What constitutes "war" (African ethnic and tribal warfare springs to mind).

Getting a definitive global answer is probably more than we can reasonably request, so the question should probably get the boot.

I didn't start playing this game to get into pissing matches with players or admin, all I wanted to do was play. It wasn't until I noticed inconsistencies and more so when it came to me that I started getting an attitude. Feel free to look at my previous posts and you will see I was patient at first.
Now it seems all I want to do is play cause non of this BS bickering has done nothing to fix the problem. If someone in admin has a problem with me then they have an issue I can't fix and I'm sure I will always be their personal target. They can (&%&* off if they are to immature to move on and get over it and quit using whatever power they have in the game to make it miserable for a player.

Best thing to do is just stop writing questions. Honestly, you'll be far happier that way.

Can we please have a purging of:
All Level 1 Characters that have not logged on in a month
All characters L4 or less that have not logged on in 2 months
All characters L10 or less that have not logged on in 6 months

Obviously these characters are a complete waste of space, and just clog up the High Score list. Plus there is no point attacking them, since they've been bled dry already - meaning it's a waste of DP for active low-level characters.

Thucydides, isn't the quote: "We have met the enemy, and he is us"?

google it.......it's not hard to find.

I was watching the History channel last night and they came out with this...

"Robin hood was the world's most famous outlaw"

so I made a question asking.."who was known as the world's most famous outlaw?"

told me it was ambiguous.............these evaluators are still a joke even after a year or so.

I get questions in the quiz that there is NO WAY THAT ANYONE OTHER THAN A SPOECIAL GROUP would know the answer...and yet they get accepted.

This quiz part of the game could be quite fun..but the evaluators are for shit...and they should just get rid of the damned quiz all together..it's obvious now, after a year and a half, that the evaluators or their question criteria isn't going to change.

First off - The Quiz is definitely the worst part about the game. It causes more problems and more pissed off players than any other portion of the game, by far. Standards vary to Evaluator to Evaluator, day to day. There isn't nearly enough maintenance to get rid of the crap, even after it's been pointed out.

THE QUIZ IS BAD

That said, Thucydides - I think you're completely wrong here. Watching a show about Robin Hood that makes such a firm statement about his popularity is only accurate to the people watching that show. There is no question about his popularity, but an unquantifiable "most" is impossible to prove.

It's like asking Who is the most Evil person in history? Hitler springs immediately to mind, but he also started industrializing Germany to the superpower it is today. Stalin should certainly be viable for his crimes against his own people, yet he is simultaneously revered as a war hero. Pol Pot slaughtered millions in his drive to power and (failed) attempt to bring stability to a region that has never had any. Idi Amin and Milosovich for their ethnic cleansing in Africa and Yugoslavia. How about Genghis Khan, who burned villages, raped women, and forced prisoners to act as a human shield - in his drive to create the worlds largest civilized empire. And how can we not mention Bin Laden - a hero to some - but currently amongst the most despised men in the world.

There is no way to quantify ones feelings and experiences. To certain groups of people, ANY name from the above list could be "Most Evil" - therefore it is an impossible question to answer factually. Yours is no different.

The story :
1. QQers start whining about XXX being > +30% better than #2

Wrong order, but I wasn't saying this as proof of cheating - merely that it deserves some evaluation

2. 2nd group of QQers start whining about XXX doing stuff (hitting them fresh out of protection in this case)

This was actually #1 - and I fail to see how you can have issue with players posting potential cheating in a "complaints about players" thread.

3. groups from 1. and 2. threaten to stop buy AS if XXX isn't banned - at this point it's "obvious" to everyone that XXX 100% a cheat.

Wasn't obvious to me - in fact I clearly indicated that thru extensive Excel tables and analysis, these results could be replicated. However, I was leery due to the time and dedication this would require.

4. ... stuff happening @ dl HQ ...
5. XXX is suspended

And as discussed, the suspension was fully justified.

6. 1 month of speculation, flames, silence from the game management, threats, final threats, emails

This is where things went up s#it creek. Clearly a failing of the Administration here. The Logs were there. There was no new data to acquire, as Piggy could not log in to generate new data. The fact this took more than a day or two is what caused the threats and fighting. Nobody was going to win as it dragged on - Pro-Piggy's were accusing Admins of bending to complaints, Anti-Piggy's were flaming back, and the whole situation devolved to a point where nobody trusted the Admins. If the Admin would have come out within a few days and simply said that "This user has been found using 3rd party software to gain an in-game advantage, and has therefore had their account terminated" - TOPIC DEAD. Maybe a few late bitchings - but really, the Admin created this problem by failing to communicate.

This is an all-too-common occurrence in these forums, where Admin - thru apathy or choice - allow situations to escalate. If there is one thing that MUST be learned thru this - it's simply that the Administration MUST communicate far more frequently.

7. XXX is banned. People organizing parties and fireworks are planned.

I didn't really read that. I think people are happy it's now over, more than in the actual result (which was completely self-evident to the vast majority of us once the "Suspension" happened).

8. present day. 98% of dl players are happy that the "cheater" is banned and that they can continue playing w/o having to protect their se.

I'm happy the cheater is banned - it has nothing to do with SE.

9. present day +1. YYY is better than rest. goto 1.

Only if players want to play that way. I haven't seen one single complaint about suspicious behaviour from Ciphas. Anyone can accuse anyone, but without any instance proof, it's just sour grapes, and makes future complaints taken less seriously.

Think it can't happen to anyone (clean or cheater)? The best way to avoid it is : keep a low profile and don't play better than the other guys.

No, the best way to avoid it is not to cheat.

The Ciphas part was just to show that almost anyone can fit into the "zomg, he's 30% better than the next guy -> cheater" which started all this.

It didn't, check the order of postings. I posted that - after specific complaints had been made - merely to indicate that the performance level in this situation far exceeded what would be considered "Standard Deviation".

PS : @Boar : you *suggested* that we're a clan of multis. Normally I couldn't care less of what you think, because that doesn't help me, but I do care about calling people on their stupidity, because stupidity annoys me.

So you can suggest Ciphas is a cheater without a single specific situation, but you flame Boar for pointing out that one person is apparently responsible for a third of an entire Clan - and if that person leaves, a third of the clan leaves with them? This is a suspicious threat to me. I have friends in the game, but I doubt my influence alone would carry enough weight to get them to drop the game if I were to leave.

D00ml0rd: Vrindel who threatens to quit every 2nd post

Ok, we both know that I don't threaten to quit very often (I have said that "I quit World 1 because of the Quiz System" on a few occasions, but nothing for World 2) - but I do need the game to improve. In truth, with the fiasco around the Xeno event (you know, the event BY the players, FOR the players, MANGLED by the Admin), I am busting my ass in trying to find a reasonable solution - getting nothing from the Admin, and am really just getting sick of it all. The lack of communication from the Administration is killing this game for me - and it is exactly that simple.

If/when it does come time for me to leave the game, it won't be with a threat (do this, or else). I will simply pass my breaking point, the decision will be made, and I will post my goodbye. And that point has been pushed dramatically forward over the last month. Will the Admin finally figure it out? All I can do is keep hoping - until I simply no longer care, which is my point of no return.

When i sugested this event it was supposed to be a relic type reward for those who choose to attack the monster. The ap or dp would not be equal to reward, the rewards tier would be at certain thresholds depending on players group. If you reach the threshold, relic is yours. If you go to next threshold, it becomes either more powerfull or it would be a different, but still better, relic. So there would be just the question of how high do i want to get, balancing the sacrifice of resources in getting a unique item my resources would not have given me. No xp, manacon points, se, potion drops etc. If you like the reward, you fight for it. And ofcourse it would have to be something that people would fight about. How about relics that start with +5% drain soul at tier 1 and at max its +20% soul drain. What dueler would not sacrifice some dp, especially without getting xp to get at max? Or a relic whch gives +5% build up to 20% at highest, for the builders to spend se/ap to get it. Both relics could be accessible, and when the event is done you can choose one you like, at the tier you reached.

Overall i had in mind an event that can make players work together without affecting the rest of the game, exept ofcourse the dp/ap they choose to use. This sound like Zarkond event all over again.

Sorry for reposting my own post but it seems noone has really consider how simple this whole mess it would be if the above suggestion was applied. This was what i imagined the event to be. Reward: a choice of relics. Effort: as much dp or ap a player whants to put in. No point system. No xp or se or potions from it. You fight for a unique item. You keep fighting to get a stronger one. You do not seem to care about the whole issue, you stay away.

So i hunt and duel as normal but i might throw a few ap/dp to get at least the basic level of the item. Or i go all out and dedicate the resources to get the most powerfull reward. I will not get the se i would if hunting or dueling but the reward would more than compensate, especially if you are one of the few that have the max reward.

Bottom line: You have an event that becomes a part of the game not one that replaces the rest of the game for a month and then all go back to normal.

Actually, this was addressed almost word-for-word previously by Miklos. He said they wanted to run Zankwad that way, but people were mad that they weren't receiving anything along the way, and that the relics would have to be so astronomically powerful to make the event worth it that the balance of the game would be at risk.

A lot of math here... But inverse problem solving is what I am good at

Or, in plain English, you're good at creating problems?

Well, I think that has been more than proven by now

But at least I can create a solution for something that is obviously screwed up...
Dátum: 2011.01.18. 07:43:01
Actually, I just had an idea that could work really well... I think...

Once you hit ManaCon L30, you can use ManaCon twice a day - once in the "normal" way (Clan Building), and once in the event. However, for the event, it takes SE to trigger (AND Spell Points to use). The trigger cost is Level*100, and the SE used in this way does NOT count towards your Luck skill. If you don't want to use ManaCon in this way, or if you want to Build more than once a day, the SE spent towards Building DOES count towards your Luck skill.

As for the Event:
SE Building (NOT including ManaCon Trigger): Level*200 = 1 Point
ManaCon Building (NOT utilizing the Trigger SE): Level*400 = 1 Point

So you still get all the benefit of whatever you have invested into ManaCon, but now there is a cost to do so. Or, you can choose not to utilize it (especially if you are under L30), and receive full benefit for the SE spent towards Luck - but you won't get as many Build Points. However, you CAN blitz the event to keep pace with the ManaCon Leaders who may not wish to make such sacrifices.

In my personal situation, Level 62, ManaBuild of (approx) 80,000 (MC L50, of course):
A ManaCon trigger costs 6200 SE, and the 80,000 ManaBuild converts to 3.225 Points (80,000 / 400 / 62)
I would need to spend a total of 40,000 SE to receive that same 3.225 Points - and I would receive Luck based on that 40k
If I used ManaCon AND the 40,000, I would receive 5.95 Points (3.225 from ManaCon, 2.73 from the 40k minus the Trigger amount).

So let's use 6 points as the daily viable amount for the middle prize. A Level 60 "Dueler" (no ManaCon) would need to spend 72000 SE to keep pace (of which, 100% would also go towards Luck). Over the course of the event, this is more expensive than building up L50 ManaCon, however, it is a LOT more cost-effective for a pure Dueler to not put SE in Skills they don't want to utilize (plus they get Luck, which they wouldn't if they were improving Skills). So there's the balance - Someone investing in Magic & ManaCon do receive the benefit here, but it's not astronomically more than is viable for non-Builder characters to keep pace.

A lot of math here... But inverse problem solving is what I am good at - so here you go. Mods / Admins - Have at'er!

From the first post of the topic:

If you win: in case of APt, you get the SE and XP you would get for a normal hunt (including quiz bonus, if you answered the quiz in advance under Hunt). In case of PPt, you get SE and XP only if you have EH skill (as if you defeated a doomlord 0-10 less level than you).

Ok, well, if that is still the case - it does change things somewhat... I still don't think that punishing the Clan is the solution though.

I think the point here is that there is a cost involved in using Duel points to attack the Xenos, since it will be like attacking a player with 0 SE (so you get some if you have Energy Harness).

Can we have an Admin confirm this once and for all? Will these be 0 SE Duels, or like the Zankwad Goblins, will there be a pre-EnHarness value?
