I recently got a Relic, but it's just sitting in my "inventory", I can hover over it to see what it does, but I can't click on it to "add" it to my active inventory. Are Relics all automatically active as soon as you get them?

Who won the Barclays Premier League season 2009?
Liverpool
Manchester United
Arsenal
Chelsea

Season 2009–10
Champions: Chelsea (group stage)
League: Manchester United (group stage)

Several issues here:
Season 2009 - is that the start of the season (2009-10), or when the season ended (2008-09)?
There are two winners every year (league champ & tournament champ)

Not a bad question... It's just the definition of "Ambiguous" - which is ironic that Mods would mark good Q's "Ambiguous", but not this one.

Now, about another issue. I say we need a balance of numbers.

What am I saying? Right, well here's the thing. This world is dominated by a single horde (Emerald) and there's practically no competition whatsoever.

Now what I'm trying to say here is that the ratio gets balanced out. Meaning an ideal of 1:1:1:1.

So, how is that achieved? Two steps are involved.

1) Delete all the inactive accounts. Say 5-6+ months inactivity, and carried out once a month. A monthly culling or "weeding" for a metaphor.

2) Limit all new players to selecting a horde which has less than a :0.8-1 ratio. Given time the game will balance itself out and proper competition will take place as I'm sure it's meant to be.

Step number 2 will also be profitable for the company owners of Doomlord since the option to switch horde for AS can be left as is; yet perhaps with an increase in AS cost.

Optional: Perhaps a bonus of some sort could be given to current Emerald players who wish to switch horde. A free switch or perhaps some additional perks.

The game right now is under the following situation: Everyone wants to be in the dominat side and day after day more players are shifting to the dominant side. In my opinion, that is catastrophic by itself and given enough time, the horde system will crumble upon itself.

Brilliant insight & post. Doesn't solve the problem that the game is dominated at the upper levels by Emerald (and Diamond), since just adding restrictions to players just starting out will take months/years to create a balance at the top... But it's great thinking for future servers.

Who was the first Metallica's bass guitar player?
Mark Evans
Steve Harris
Cliff Burton
Jason Newsted

Really? This passed?
Dátum: 2010.08.16. 18:16:07
As LydonB noted in his War & Peace length post (which is why I didn't quote it ), this should ultimately be a cakewalk win for the Emerald - based purely on number of players, highly ranked players, plus they have the most to lose with the slower magic regeneration. So, how are the colors being balanced to find which Clan has the best per-user participation? Or is that not happening?

What's the name of Fall out boy's song?

Brown
Golden
Silver
Green

its not a wrong question but the song "golden" was on some obscure album released in 2007.

is this band at least a popular band? They have had half a dozen albums and for this question u have to go thru song list on 5 of them to find the answer.

Fair question if they only ever had 1 song, but they havent, is this band even relevant to anything? hey disbanded in 2009, they heavy metal and this song isnt even listed on wiki, u actually have to go to the fansite and go thru each album to find answer.

Actually, they were one of the most radio-played bands in the 00's, with multiple multi-platinum albums, and multiple #1 singles. Were they relevant? Damn right. Heavy metal? Fail. Improve your reading skills.

That said, BAD question. If asking a question about FOB, stick with the #1 hits.

well for anyone from Nth America where the english language has been bastardised beyond recognition already, he is suggesting a live player chat system...

seriously virindel, the sooner you learn that the world doesnt revolve around your little centre of the universe the sooner you will overcome your bigotry.

your attitude is appalling, your bigotry is disgusting.

Insinuating I'm a bigot is ludicrous, considering that I keep reminding people that this is an International game. I just hate text-speak. There is absolutely no reason people can't choose to communicate properly in an INTERNATIONAL (see, there's that word again!) public forum.

As for my attitude, take it as you will - I won't be changing any time soon. And if you're tired of me being right, then don't get in an argument with me.

What illegal drug was once part of the Coca Cola formula?
marijuana
heroine
meth
cocaine *marked correct*

the question and answer is a lie. urban legend and not true.

It's not entirely untrue. The oil from the plant used to flavour Coca Cola is the same plant that cocaine is refined from. So while cocaine itself was never in Coke, the oil was/is(?). It's like something that has hemp oil contains marijuana. Obviously not correct, but not completely out-to-lunch either.

Don't bother with anything maths or shape related..

Some time ago this question of mine was rejected: "What shape is the Earth", the answer was "Spheroid" and was considered an arithmetic/special knowledge. In the 21st century the shape of the planet we live on is specialist knowledge, huzzah at that. Who would have guessed eh..? And here I was thinking that it was actually a cube!

Thus, I simply chose not to bother anymore (apart from the couple of rants here and there). I still stand by my argument of months ago that the system needs a change. Loads of suggestions were made but no one heard us out; it's simply pointless to post anything related to quizzes.

Why players still bother trying to figure out possible questions; incessantly hoping for that one stroke of luck that it gets approved is beyond my mental capacity. In the end, it's a couple hundred SE and simply not worth the effort required or the excruciating frustration that is caused by this idiotic system. Let the verifiers fill the damned database up themselves, since it appears that they are the only ones that actually understand what's actually specialist knowledge and what's not. The rest of us are simply dumbfounded trying to make a sense of something which doesn't make any sense at all.

The more players that boycott the quiz system, the higher the chances that this idiotic situation is fixed.

Hear, hear. Granted, things HAVE gotten somewhat better since the "guidelines" were created - but ultimately, writing questions just isn't worth it. I renounce on 80-90% of my opportunities, and that's about the right amount in order to stay sane.

Well, fun as it has been, the hockey debate has run its course, surely?

For the record: Field Hockey has been around in various forms for centuries, unlike its icy counterpart which is a relatively recent creation. That alone is enough to suggest that the original sport is called 'hockey' while its new spin-off should need extra help to identify it, hence 'ice' hockey.

The Olympics have had Hockey since 1908. The Winter Olympics (see how the word 'Winter' is added to make the distinction?) has only had Ice Hockey since 1924. Indeed, look at the official Olympics website and they refer to the two sports as 'Hockey' and 'Ice Hockey'. No need for the word 'Field'.

(Just a slightly wicked thought: If names being added mean so much/so little can we ask that the USA formally renounces the US part or the A part? It is confusing to the rest of the world trying to find out who you are. Are you the USA, the US or America? Sort that out first before you start reorganising the hockey world!)

And finally, minority does not mean incorrect. That really is a basic American error! (cf. Galileo vs. The Church etc etc etc)

Good thing I'm Canadian, then... Eh?

Spelling mistakes in question or answers.

You guys are killin' me, WTF, I have to answer questions about sports players I never heard of and answer questions about movie quotes That i know have never played in the states but i ask a GD "Nightmare On Elm Street" question and I'm gonna get a knock for asking a special groups question?!?!? This is a poem that's atleast been played in 5 of the 7 movies?! C'mon, and spelling mistakes, i have to push through grammer errors when reading some of these questions and some clown want to bag on me for an apostrophy, where is the consistancy in this?? Please explain

Nightmare on which street? never heard of it, so how on earth am I to guess which movie to run down to blockbuster and rent?
That's as bad as asking about what form the fireworks in LotR takes. You can't expect to get a question approved that you have to watch a movie to answer. And definately not when you don't even mention it. But I agree with you that some of the sports questions are a bit to specialized.

Martin - are you serious that you've never heard of Nightmare on Elm Street? I don't believe that for a second. Actually, I had no issue with the first version of the question as if you READ the question, the answer is very evident. The 2nd version has answers that are far too similar, and is rightfully rejected... But the first is simple logic (regardless of whether you've seen the movies before), and could/should have passed.

Hockey also has corner play:) Ice hockey might not but hockey does:) Email ice hockey federation and ask them what the difference between hockey and ice hockey is i bet they can tell u real quick and they wont need a field in front to understand:) Stekkos is also wrong lol, but never the less if you go back and read my original post u will see i suggest a field be put in front of hockey to designate the differnce for you guys that live in bubbles lol:)

Lesson learnt?

There's no lesson to be learned here, except that yours is the minority opinion.

I agree that Ice Hockey and Field Hockey should both be defined as such. But in the failure of that, Ice is clearly the default.

How many rounds does a team have win to get to the NCAA Basketball championship game?
3
4
5 *
6

From 2011 there is an extra round where 8 teams compete for 4 places, or that's how I understand the description on wikipedia. So next year the answer will be 5-6 rounds.

Where is the line between national sporting events with international interest and purely national events with no interest to players from other countries?
This is a national event for the US, so not many people outside the US is likely to know what it is. Luckily wikipedia has an entry on it. But as far as I know this tournament has no connection to any International sporting event, but it is one of the most prominent sporting events in the US, so to me this is a perfect example of a question that should or should not have been admitted to the database, based on where that lies.

I agree with this completely. And actually, right now, there is still a play-in game between the 64th and 65th seed, so the answer has been 5 or 6 for quite a while. If the question was phrased "From the Round of 64, how many blah, blah, blah?", then this would be a Sports -or- Math question, since you wouldn't need to follow the NCAA to do a rudimentary halving system and get the answer that way. As it is though, the Q should be kicked.

I have no clue? coming from someone who thinks kicking a ball long or short designates a different form of corner kick lol... Field hockey is the number 2 most popular team sport in the world, just behind football (soccer) You dont have to be smarmy about it all Virindel, i proved your initial statement wrong, cop it on the chin and take the education lesson with some grace lol...

Bzzzz... Wrong. Try Basketball.

As for narrowing down your intial Euro statement to be very country specific and selecting almost arctic countries in Euro where summer last a few weeks at best making field hockey difficult to play is the equivilent of me comparing the numbers in India, Pakistan, Spain and Australia lol, it dont happen cos there is no ice to play on...

And your point is......? You said that in every country in Europe/Canada/US more people play Field Hockey than Ice Hockey... Then you say that because of short summers, some countries play for Ice than Field. So your blanket statement has a few moths. And I don't recall saying anything about India, etc. I just wanted you to acknowledge that you made a foolish statement. Especially about Canada - that was just dumb.

As far as google search, if u didnt realise google use Geo Targeting which means if u search for something in your country you will get different results that the other 99% of the countries int he world where Field hockey will maintain the first 2 million pages before ice hockey pops up:)

Yes, I noticed that on one of my recent searches - tagged google.ca, not .com... My bad. Then again, you said there are more F-Hockey players than Ice Hockey players in Canada & the US... So you still have the biggest blunder here.

"In conclusion, I think that for the purpose of the game, Ice Hockey can be called Ice Hockey, or simply Hockey - while Field Hockey needs that "Field" designation to make it accurate."

Not even the governing body of ice hockey considers itself "simply Hockey" it is the International Ice Hockey Federation where as the governing body of Field Hockey is the International Hockey Federation, there is no need for field to be added, THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND NTH AMERICA

Ok, so when someone posts about "Hockey" - what does that mean?

And just shut up about "long and short corners in soccer". Amongst the answers listed, Soccer was the only sport that actually HAS corner play - therefore was the only viable option... Unless you interpret "Hockey" as Field Hockey. Which, as Stekkos has already ruled, would be the minority opinion. If F-Hockey was one of the listed options, I would have selected it.

Your comment about who plays this game Viridel its quite out of place, Asian countrys are especially active in doomlord, but even if North America and Europe are the majority, they cannot be taken as the primary source of what is a correct question. Just like it was not the right way to consider Europe in the same way just because it is a Hungarian company running it.

I'm just going by the "where are you from" forum thread. And no, geography doesn't dictate WHAT is a good question, however, it could have an impact on how a question is best ASKED.

For example, if this was a US/Canada only game, it would be Football and Soccer - two different sports... But because there is a large European (amongst other things) user base, our "Football" must be designated as either American Football or the NFL. By the same token, a European asker should likely use the term Soccer to describe their game of Football / Futball, to accommodate Canadian/American users to whom the term "football" would cause confusion. Just one of MANY examples of the same language having different geographical definitions - so that's why it must be remembered that the game is indeed global - with apparently a largely (but not entirely) North American & European population base.

they have short and long corners in soccor? dont think so.

From a Corner Kick, the kick can go Long (into the box) or Short.

in Field hockey they do, long corner is taken from the corner position of backline and sideline and a short corner is taken on the backline but only a few yards away from the goal box.

Fair enough - FIELD hockey is the better example.

ice hockey is only played in a couple of countries, field hockey is a world wide sport:)

good question allbeit maybe the hockey could be changed to field hockey.

Keep in mind who plays THIS game - North America & Europe - Ice Hockey is the far more "popular" sport.

Agree in soccer they can kick long or short but its still just a corner, the long and short kick is only a strategy not a rule of the game, in field hockey a long corner would be given for similar reasons as a corner in soccer but a short corner is the equiv of a penalty kick from outside the box in soccer and both games have the same penalty shot from inside one on one for infractions within the goal area.

I'll agree that soccer isn't the best option amongst all possible sports, but amongst the ones listed (soccer, [unspecified] hockey, basketball, and tennis[?]), it could be said that it is the most viable option. This is depending if you think Field or Ice first.

I didnt write the question but i understand where the "centre of the universe" is hence stating the question could be altered to specify field hockey, however, Euro countries dominate the world rankings, Canada is a very respectable 11th and even USA is 21st out of a total 73 ranked countries in the mens rankings, similar story in womens with Euro dominating the top 10 however USA is ranked 10th and Canada 19th.

I would be very surprised if either Euro, Canada or USA had more ice hockey players than field hockey players, despite the publicity around ice hockey, the only reason you guys think ice hockey first is its a professional sport and therefore the publicity machine makes money by keeping it in the headlines. That does not mean that Ice Hockey is the more "popular" sport.

"Keep in mind who plays THIS game " you keep it in mind, this game has no country restrictions so it is blessed with people from many countries, the world DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND NTH AMERICA and nor should this game.

Ok, well, your suggestion that Field Hockey has more players than Ice Hockey in North America - I'm sorry - is utterly laughable. Flat, completely, and dead wrong. Especially Canada - you obviously have NO clue. But fine, moving on.

I would also like to see the number of registered F-Hockey players vs Ice Hockey in Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic countries. I will concede everything south of the Baltic and west of the former Soviet republics, if you give me the rest of Europe and Canada/US - although I may fight you for Germany.

As for World Rankings - those don't *necessarily* dictate the popularity of a sport in a particular region. Canada went to the 2008 Olympics in Water Polo (ranked 11th), but our soccer team sucks. Do you think that means Water Polo is more popular than soccer here???

Lastly, when you do a Google search for "Hockey", 9 of the first 10 listings are Ice Hockey specific - the 10th being a sub-listing, indicating that there are a "family of sports called hockey". So, the "center of the universe" (aka - Google) clearly indicates that Ice Hockey is the primary... And if you took a random poll, I would guess that you would have more people saying "they play hockey on grass???" than knowing what a short & long corner were.

In conclusion, I think that for the purpose of the game, Ice Hockey can be called Ice Hockey, or simply Hockey - while Field Hockey needs that "Field" designation to make it accurate.
