If you desert your alliance too much, you will see a decline in luck. Each person has a counter, and every time they leave an alliance (or get kicked) they gain one of these counters. If a person has:

Counter-2 > Character Service/(2*Months passed)

Then they lose

Counter - 2 - (Character Service/(2*Months passed))

For example, if I was in an alliance for a week and I quit, then did the same for a second, third and fourth, I would have 4 counters with a total of 1 months service and immediately, I would lose (2-2-1)= -1 luck. This wouldn't show up in the stat, but it's effect would take place.

Months Passed = how long ago you left your alliance
Character Service = How long you've spent in an alliance you quit in total
Counter = number of alliances left

well its states what it should protect and as far as I saw it is correct, it uses the formula SE owned - (TP*100SE)= lootlable SE.
I can only say for sure that it works in basic- i.e. if I have TP at 5 and 500 SE every duel i lose as defender will be 0 SE lost.

The formula:
TP * (100+2*lvl)

TP = level of your transcendal projection skill
lvl = your character level

If you have the relic from the zarknod event (transcendal focus), then the formula is modified like this:
TP * (100+2*lvl) * 1,5

If we take a level 40 with 50 TP, it would mean that it's hiding:

50 * 4080 = 204K SE

or

50 * 4080 * 1.5 = 306K SE

Your calculations are wrong.

Lets take your example:
A level 40 character, who has a level 50 TP can protect the following amount of SE: 50*(100+2*40)=9000 SE

I was doing 100+2*40 instead of 2*40+100.



Here's a "non-bodmas" version:

Normal: 2 * lvl + 100 * TP

Plus transcendal focus: 2 * lvl + 100 * TP * 1.5

So basically it protects an extra 2 SE per character level (x Skill Level)... Doesn't seem like a great value, considering the cost of acquiring the skill in the first place.

You have omitted that 100 from the formula, it more than doubles that amount for up to level 50. It is a good skill for someone who constantly loses SE to spiders, especially combined with the relic from the event.

It would be useful if you don't hunt at low HP, but instead spend your SE while hunting. If you keep it roughly on par with your stats you can spend before any becomes available to be looted.

It's also nice to keep a little SE on you while away. If someone attacks and loses you might gain some SE with no risk to lose any.

Oh, I get that... It just seems like only protecting a few more SE per level is undervaluing the skill - when it's costing me 9000+ SE per level to improve it. But I'm a Skills hog, so my base purchase price is already really high.

Thanks for all the input though - it was the answer I needed. Now I need to decide whether it's something I want to keep investing in or not.

Well, we can't have everything as they say.

Another way of doing it is equipping level 1 gear and emptying your lootable SE prior to signing off. That way you will always lose without loosing any SE.
