I put the question in google and the only ""mistake"" it found was email instead of e-mail. I put ""mistake"" because is really not a mistake but thats the only possible reason the evaluator might have thought is spelling error

Both e-mail and email are commonly accepted terms. It would be ridiculous to evaluate that as a spelling mistake anyway

Spelling mistakes in question or answers.

Hate to bring it to you, but there are NO SPELLING mistakes in there.... Learn your Engrish better, the questions i see that pass while others get marked as bad is getting rediculous!

Hell.. there are even spelling mistakes in the description of the game itself!

First post here. I am going to vent a little. First let me argue that EVERY question in the database here requires "special group" knowledge. Granted some may require more "special" a group than others. My point is "special group" is completely subjective and more to the point completely subjective from the current reviewers knowledge base.

The major problem here is there is no objective number of how many people make up "special group".

I wrote a question about a long running animated show here in the US. It even had a movie with a theater release and sold over 40 million tickets. If I estimate another 100 million have viewed at least one episode. Another 100 million who have never seen an episode but are aware of the show and it's premise.

Is 240 million people a special group? It's not like I'm asking who the class president was at my high school!

Dont be mad, they did you a favour so you will be able to still post a question and not loose the chance or the se. Your question needs a date. You have a very good question NOW, but 2,3,5 etc years down the road that might change. So put the most popular until or in 2010 and i bet will pass

This could have had the evaluation because things that are not are more difficult than things that are. To put it another way, listing four songs and saying which song did Led Zeppelin sing is better than asking what they didn't sing.

This is a question whose answer could easily change. Plus, other online games seem to get the the "special knowledge" evaluation. I don't see any spelling errors, so the evaluator may have chosen the spelling error evaluation so you are not penalized from writing another question.

I don't really see spelling mistakes here and I'm not sure what to guess at the problem. Email and e-mail should both be acceptable. On a minor note, I think the second service is usually written as "Gmail" but that should not be the sole rejection reason. I suggest a resubmit on this question.

Hmm, I just looked up the details of this one and there seems to be a lot of disagreement. I guess the answer depends on what source of information you believe since there are credible sources citing different answers.

how do you evaluate spelling mistakes,as i know that some people on here are dyslexic,also USA spell some words different than queens English,some use text form words,some use phonetics,so on what basis is the spelling evaluated?

So evaluators - please explain why you have rejected a valid question on the grounds of 'only a special group of people might know the answer'!!! Is it because only the citizens of the USA might know the answer?? Or is it only the film industry might know the answer??

Or is it because this game is now becoming so fallible that no questions should be set at all.

Let me answer the first question - I am proud to be British!!! I learnt this question by using Google - arguably the best search engine available. There are a lot of questions that are set, which I have to answer, that I believe that fall into the category 'only a special group of people know the answer'. Ans there are some questions that get through with spelling mistakes and wrong answers that are never scrutinised properly.

One such question is: Cleopatra was supposedly killed by what? The answer to the quiz was 'bitten by an adder'. This is incorrect. If anything, if Cleopatra was bitten by a snake, the snake was an asp not an adder. However, there is another theory that Cleopatra went into a tomb (pyramid) along with her two handmaidens and a basket of figs, which contained two wasps and got bitten on her shoulder. This is only one of many theories of how Cleopatra died and therefore this question should have been classified as 'only a special group of people will know this answer'.

This is why the game is so 'fallible'. What vexes me more is that there is no consistency throughout this question and answer process. A British person having to answer questions on 'Who first signed the US Declaration of Independence?' or any ice hockey questions that feature American or Canadian ice hockey teams.

Like I have said many times before NO question should be classed as 'only a special group of people will know this answer' because the internet is there for everyone to use to investigate such questions. You and I can learn by answering such questions. I now know that John Hancock was the first person to sign the US Declaration of Independence. However, there is some dispute on the legality of the date in which the Declaration was signed. Many argue that it wasn't the 4th July (which American celebrate this day for obvious reasons) but the 19th July). If it was the 4th July then John Adams was the first person to sign the Declaration.

Questions should only be judged on spelling and wrong answers. You have a forum set up for questions that have questionable answers. Use this to delete questions that have wrong answers - for instance 'How many days does it take for the Moon to orbit the Earth? The answer to the question was given as 28 days. WRONG!!! It takes the Moon 29.5 days to orbit the Earth. The extra .5 gives us an extra day every four years in February.

Evaluators - stop being killjoys and only concentrate on questions that have bad spelling or have wrong answers!!!!!!!!!!

If you read a bit the forums, and i mean go a few pages back you will find americans complaining of not enough NHL/NFL, and that european questions pass more thatn theirs. Then you will find europeans complaining about too many NHL/NFL questions, others saying there is discrimination, others complaining too much global questions are accepted, etc.

So basically, its good you are proud to be British (i really dont know where you got the idea anyone wants you to feel otherwise...), very good comment about cleopatra, it should be corrected, but dont take it personally. Your question is bad because you asked something too specific, someone who has seen the movie, knows the cast, read the reviews etc, will still be oblivious to the answer you are looking for. Easy to goolge changes nothing, is still a question that requires special knowleadge. Thats all, nothing else is implied.

I was trying to make a point that if I am British and I can search and create a question about an American question then it is feasible that everybody else can as well.
