I may be late in posting this but the song Beth was written by a member of kiss at a time when the band wanted to try something different and so each member of the band put out a solo album. Not before the band kiss formed. I remember because i bought the album.

This 1 needs to be cleared up.

Which of these is a planet?
Mercury
Titan
Pluto
Charon

until recently pluto & mercury were both planets. And I, for one, do not agree with the theory that pluto is a moon because of it's smaller size. Also, because I'm older than probably most players here, I remember this stuff.

Maybe rewording the question to something like 'as of 2009 which is of these is a planet?'

Maybe i'm just too old and shouldn't bother with this game. (48)

Pluto is not classed a moon, but a dwarf planet, so I do agree Pluto does not belong on this list as it makes the question somewhat ambiguous.

Which country has the oldest national anthem?
England
Netherlands <-- right
Germany
China

Various countries including Japan, Netherlands (Holland), and Britain lay claim to having the oldest national anthem. The Japanese anthem 'The Kimigayo (the Emperor's reign)' was adopted in 1888, and was originally a poem written by Ki No Tsurayuki in the early 10th century. The music was written in 1880. The Dutch claim is based on their anthem 'The Wilhelmus' being written in 1570, but it was not adopted as the national anthem until 1932. The British national anthem was originally a patriotic song, popular in 1745 at the time of the Scots Jacobite rebellion. The song was used thereafter to greet the British monarch whenever he/she appeared in public. The original author is unknown, and it is believed to date from the mid 16th century.

To me, it looks like Japan is the right answer, though it is still ambiguous to determine when the national anthem became the national anthem (when it was written or when it was sung).

England's was adopted in 1745 (it seems) and was written in mid 16th century, 1550.
Netherland's was adopted in 1932 and was written in 1570.
Japan's was adopted in 1888 and was written 910AD.

Either way, it's not Netherlands. Delete.

Maria Curie-Sklodowska discovered Radium and Polonium. What was Polonium named after?
Her nationality <--
Her husband
Her dog
The city where she lived

Polonium was discovered by Marie Skłodowska-Curie and her husband Pierre Curie in 1898 and was later named after Marie Curie's native land of Poland (Latin: Polonia)

Nationality is an understandable answer, but I still think it should be her native land.

just got this question...

Which animal was walking around on this planet first?
spider
snake
shrew
cockroach <----

How can anyone possibly be sure what animal walked around on planet earth hundreds of millions of years ago? Besides, most likely answer to this question would not be a cockroach, but a fish/reptile hybrid that evolved and crawled around.

and i quote from a scientific source:

"ScienceDaily (Oct. 6, 2008) — The fossilized trail of an aquatic creature suggests that animals walked using legs at least 30 million years earlier than had been thought. The tracks -- two parallel rows of small dots, each about 2 millimeters in diameter -- date back some 570 million years, to the Ediacaran period."

"On the American Flag, if White means peace, Red means war, what does Blue mean?"

Who came up with that? Never heard that one before in my entire life.

Red: hardiness & valor
White: purity and innocence
Blue: vigilance, perseverance & justice

And that's the definition that was given by the Continental Congress.

Which of these is not a kind of tissue?
Connective Tissue
Epithelial Tissue
Skeletal Tissue <- marked as correct
Muscle Tissue
They all are: I found this definition in medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com:
skeletal tissue:
the bony, ligamentous, fibrous and cartilaginous tissue forming the skeleton and its attachments.

From head to toe, what is the height of The Empire State Building in New York ?
503m
381m <- marked as correct
287m
301m
Assuming "From head to toe" means the full height the answer is 443m, the 381m is without the "pinnacle"

Who wrote "Beach Music"?
Pat Conroy <-- right
Bob King
Paullina Simons
Oswald Wirt

I googled all the individual names and it wasn't obvious, even though I quickly went through their wikipedia's. If you count Pat Conroy as a well known author, then Beach Music isn't one of his most well known books (according to wikipedia) so I think it comes under specialist knowledge and needs a delete.

What was Dennis Hopper's first movie?
I Died a Thousand Times
Giant
Rebel Without a Cause *
Gunfight at the OK Corral
I had no trouble finding a Dennis Hopper filmography, so answering it isn't that hard, but those 4 are his 4 first official films, so unless you are a Dennis Hopper specialist answering this without the help of some list. So I'd say the question is a good one, but the 3 wrong answers are not.

What power do the dementors have over people?
They make them go crazy
They drain them of all happiness *
They cause them to harm one another
They can make them do their bidding
Apart from being imprecise (Dementors also suck the soul out of their victims) this question requires you to have watched the Harry Potter films or read the books, so this is very much specialist knowledge.
This question should be removed or at the minimum rephrased to include the fact that dementors are a creature of the Harry Potter books/films. (I have read the books and seen the films, and have no problem answering the question)

So I choose to do an adventure.
First I use up 9 crystal points.
Then I lose 494 SE

Then I get the question:

Quiz: How many of Carl Lewis' Olympic gold medals were won in long jump competitions?

I put the answer as 4 but...

Wrong answer, the correct answer was: 3.

So which of these 4 times did not count? 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992? I keep adding them up and it always comes to 4!

I checked with the IOC (International Olympics Committee). This is the page I got:

http://www.olympic.org/en/content/All-Olympic-results-since-1896/?AthleteName=&Category=&Games=&Sport=1313725&Event=349877&MenGend er=true&WomenGender=false&MixedGender=false&TeamClassification=false&IndividualClassification=true&Continent=&Country=&Gol dMedal=true&SilverMedal=false&BronzeMedal=false&WorldRecord=false&OlympicRecord=false&TargetResults=true

4 (that's FOUR) lovely pictures of Carl Lewis against each of the FOUR gold medals for long jump he was awarded.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!

There is no point having 'experts' to accept questions if they are NEVER checked. It takes seconds to check such a straightforward question. DO IT!! Or ask people, like those who post here, to do it for you. We care. We bother. You don't.

Now give me back my crystal points and SE. You can't? Then resign and let people who can do the job do it.

Let's see... Posted August 18th... And I just got this question on September 6th.

Yup, the Admins have given up on this game. What a bloody joke.

EDIT2:
What is the most accurate definition of the term "Reich"?
German Dominion
German Monarchy
German People
German State <-- right

Ambiguous much? I use dict.leo.org for my German translations and I would've said empire before checking it anyway. State is a strange word to use and relates more to governments than empires. To me, dominion is closer to Reich than state, but essentially they mean the same thing. The gray area makes this ambiguous so either change State to Empire and Dominion to Area or something. Preferably, just delete it as there's too little difference between the answers.

I just got the same question again...

Actually the word Reich can translate to either state (as in nation state), dominion, kingdom, or empire, and probably a few other things. The term "Die Reich" as used in German refers to the whole of the Germany, not merely to single "Lender" (states). So I agree this question should be deleted.
