Just posting this for kicks, its a real question if only the quiz writer didn't get it backwards: Clark Kent uses the alias of Superman, not the other way around.

What alias does the Superman use?

Bruce Wayne
* Clark Kent
Steve Rogers
Peter Parker

There was a question that asked what the planets in out solar system were named after. The "Correct" answer was "Roman Gods".

This is not completely accurate though. Some of the planets were named after gods, but some of the gods were named after "Stars" (as they thought) that traveled "freely" across the "heavens". Mars is a good example. See below for details

Understand that the ancients viewed all points of lights in the night sky as "stars". Understand also that they considered the sky to be Heaven. What they found interesting - or astounding - is that although very nearly all of those stars followed a fixed course - an annual progression very much like that of the Sun - some of those stars were seemingly able to travel freely. For example, Orion (the constellation) never changed its position relative to any of the other constellations - but some of those points of lights, frequently the brightest and largest, *were* able to move from one constellation to another. In other words, they were able to traverse the Heavens freely - not restricted in their path as were the "normal" stars.

Those stars - that we now call the visible planets - were considered "gods" because of their ability to travel freely through Heaven.

SO - did the Romans invent the god Mars and then assign that planet to him? Unlikely. More likely they **already considered** the planet Mars to be the god of war. Mars itself, because of its color, made it the war god. Likewise the other visible planets. Clearly, the planet would first be perceived *as* a god before it was given a name - that name simultaneously denoting both planet and god.

Naturally, those planets *not* visible to the naked eye were named after the Roman gods. However, it seems quite likely - almost certain - that the visible planets were identified as gods *first* and named *second*.

----Edit----
If you dont know this, the answer is obvious, but if you do you kinda want to click another answer....

Actually Clark Kent and Superman are two aliases of Kal-El.

The film that won the Best Picture Oscar in 1992 was?
Scent of a Woman. <-- right
Unforgiven

It's just wrong. Everywhere say's it's Unforgiven.

How many of the 756 soccer players at the 2010 World Cup finals play in English Clubs ?
117
56
145
203

That's difficult to find and specialist knowledge, even for Football! I still don't know the answer... Anyone help me out?

EDIT: The answer was 117 for anyone unlucky enough to get this question.

EDIT:
Off which continent are the Canary Islands?
Europe
North America
Africa <--
Asia
Although it is geographically closer to Africa, It belongs to Europe in many different aspects. The question is right to choose Africa, but the wording is ambiguous.

In Siberia a mammoth was found frozen in a glacier with a very interesting thing about it. What?
It had a half eaten fox in it's stomach
It had fresh grass in it's mouth <--
It had a collar on
It's eyes still responded to light

I couldn't find the answer to that for sure, it was a bit of a guess, so it might go down as specialist knowledge?

What colour is magenta?
Pinkish purple<-------
Dark green
Pale cream
Orangish red

While I do understand the question and its easily answerable the fact that it is simply stupid remains.

What colour is magenta? Only correct answer is... well... MAGENTA!

If I asked what colour is green and there was limeish watermellony marked as correct answer I bet it would be rejected.

THIS IS THE THIRD QUESTION I'VE GOT WITH THIS ANSWER:

"The French and Indian war"

The correct answer is:

"The seven years war"

Nowhere can you find it referred to as the French and Indian war aside from the casual sense. Things have names...AARGH! I feel like sending in a bunch of botched quiz questions just to sit back and laugh at half of them getting accepted!!!!

Lol, you're technically right! But only comicbook/TV series fans would know it. It gets so ambiguous because Kal-el is his birth name but he only figures that out after having grown up as Clark Kent to all, including himself. And he only refers to himself as Kal-el when its appropriate i.e. dealing with his past. He doesn't consider it his identity at all, more of a label foisted by a megalomaniac of a father who somehow manages to balance between evil mastermind and perfect parent.. hehe

What illegal drug was once part of the Coca Cola formula?
marijuana
heroine
cocaine <--- marked correct
meth

This is false, coca cola was once made with an ingredient that comes from the same plant, but it never had cocaine in it. It is an urban myth and this question needs to be deleted vased on the stupidity of the person who wrote it.

You are both right and wrong, coca extract is still a part of the formula for Coca Cola. In the original formula the cocaine was not removed from the extract so Coca Cola did indeed contain cocaine.

How is this a good question?

Marc and Jane have been married 40 years. Marc wants to marry his widow's sister, but that's impossible. Why?

Jane's sister is dead
It's illegal to have another wife
Marc is dead <--
They are too old

Huh??? Can this really be considered a good question? How can Marc want to marry his widow's sister if he is dead? Why can't the answer be Jane's sister is dead? Seem incredibly ambiguous (and stupid) to me.

One problem is that so many players can not answer questions that lie outside their nationality. I have entered questions which are easy to people from the countries in which the question falls but your question checkers say they are bad. Bad because they are not from the country involved:

What well-known alcoholic drink is the River Douro famous for?

Whisky
Brandy
Vodka
Port

58 good and 46 bad answers have arrived for this question. So 46 people are ignorant of alcohol and so the question is bad? No. It is a fair question they do not know so they mark it as bad.

Which English county does NOT exist?

North Yorkshire
South Yorkshire
East Yorkshire
West Yorkshire

79 good and 106 bad answers have arrived for this question. 106 this time. USA and Hungary goegraphy and famous people all pass without fail but UK geography is bad? NO. Your people just can't understand the concept that a quiz is not just good if they already know the answer. Quizzes should educate! I am prepared to look up answers when I do not know them. It does not make the nquestion bad, just so0mething about which I need to learn to be able to answer.

I guess it does come under the multiple answer categories, but it says his widows sister... she can only be a widow if he himself is dead.

Man I've had a bad day with questions today.
About how much percent of the humankind is right-handed?
88 <-- right
95
75
99

No-one knows. It depends on the category of people you are sampling. If they are the average adult, when they were young they were sometimes forced to use their right hand. Nowadays, it's more natural. The first google said 88%, so I was lucky, but still, the second link said 93%...

What is the tallest type of tree in the world?
Oak
Elm
Birch
Sequoia <-- right

Any consistency? If you're going to give one half of a latin name, do it for the others? Why is the question purposefully trying to confuse us? Anyway, I think I've seen a similar question before with Californian Redwood as the answer.

I never was and am always to be, no one has ever seen me nor ever will, and yet I am the reason anyone ever bothers to live and breathe. What am I?
Timbuktu
Tomorrow <-- right
Turbulence
Time

I got this right, but I don't like the fact that time and tomorrow are too similar.

Modern surfboards are most commonly made of?
Plastic
Fiberglass <-- right

It's fiberglass layered on top of Polystyrene.. Who's allowing these through!?

Which of these rivers does not flow through Portugal?
Guadiana
Douru
Tagus
Guadalquivir <-- right

I got this right too, but man was it boring. If it was which of these rivers DOES flow through Portugal then OK, I can grit my teeth and work through it, but which one isn't is just too much.

London's tower bridge, is what type of bridge?
Suspension
Combined Bascule and Suspension <-- right

The question is right, but it's misleading since it is a suspension bridge and again, the question is trying to catch us out. I don't like it.

Which of these isn't a capital city?
Belgrade
Bangalore <-- Right
Beirut
Bangkok

All of them are capital cities. Bangalore is the capital city of the state of Karnataka in India. Even if it isn't a traditional capital city, it's still ambiguous.

Agreeing with you, in more detail: Sequoia is the common name for Sequoiadendron giganteum - the tree that grows in the Sierra Nevada. However, if that's what the person who asked the question meant, the answer is incorrect. The Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens, also sometimes known as the California Redwood) - the tree that grows where I live - is taller (though narrower) than the Sequoia.

Which of these animals has white fur?
Deer
Bison
Polar Bear *
Lion

Contrary to popular opinion, a Polar bears fur is actually clear, as stated in http://www.wisegeek.com/contest/what-color-is-polar-bear-fur.htm,
When looking at a polar bear, the first thing you may notice is their size or their thick white fur. Most people would find it absurd to say that the fur color would be anything except white. In truth, that fur you are seeing is actually clear! Much like snow, the fur just reflects the sunlight and looks white.
Their skin is actually black, weird huh?
I also found the same information on other websites too.

I remember watching the T.V. documentary about this baby mammoth. and it did indeed still have grass in it's mouth which was a huge thing for the scientists because their were seeds in the grass. however, to say that it had 'fresh' grass' in its mouth would be at the least inaccurate. The grass was from the time of the wolly mammoth, anything else would imply that the animal was recently deceased, which it was not.
